Louis Francis read ‘Ancient World’ at University College, London University and was subsequently on the staff of Heythrop College, London University. He has previously written two books of Horace translations, the Love Poetry and the Book IV Odes, a translation of the ‘Geographia’ of Ptolemy and an original work on Early Roman Britain – 43AD. Recently, he has added further translated works – two from the Septuagint Greek of the Old Testament and one from the Middle English of Chaucer.

He has now begun to write poetry in his own name. The first work, ‘Time Flies: Love Remains’ is a collection of twenty-one Love Sonnets. This was subsequently followed by ‘Valedictions – 1’, a series of Classical Soliloquies on such figures as Homer and Alexander the Great.

These were followed by - ‘THE PERSIAN SONNETS – The Rubaiyat revisited’ attempts to capture the essence of Omar Khayyam’s quatrains within the formal decasyllabic structure of the English sonnet and, more recently a new translation of the Chaucer's Prologue tp the Canterbury Tales. He was born in Warwickshire and his work is by way of a ’late flowering’ after a lifetime work in Information Technology. He lives with his wife near Lewes, in East Sussex.
